RAFAEL DA SILVA NOT IN THE SQUAD FOR LYON

Rafael Da Silva has missed two more games again for his current club Olympique Lyon.

The 25-year old Brazilian joined Olympique Lyon from English Premiership side, Manchester United for a reported sum of 2.5 million Pounds. The defender signed a four year deal with the French Ligue 1 team. The contract with Olympique Lyon will run out in June 2019.

However, the young footballer has not been in the squad for Olympique Lyon for several matches now. He was not in the squad when Olympique Lyon played Marseille, SC Batia, G. Bordeaux and Reims from 20th September to 3rd of October last year.

The petite Brazilian returned for Olympique Lyon in the match against Monaco to score his only goal so far for Olympique Lyon. The match ended one all.

Young Croatian Mario Pasalic had put Monaco ahead during the encounter. The former Manchester United player equalized for Olympique Lyon with just six minutes to the end of the game, salvaging a crucial point for the team.

After his goal against Monaco, he sat through the next match against Toulouse. After a couple of more games; he has not been on the squad. Coach B. Genesio has not made any public statement on the player is not in the squad.

The defender has only been in 20 games this season in the French Ligue 1 out of 33 games. He started 15 games, was substituted in two and benched in three games. Without being injured, it shows Coach B. Genesio favours other defenders such as S. Umtiti with 25 caps, J. Morel with 27 caps.

The Brazilian international has only played two games for his country with his debut 2012 after playing for the U-17 and U-23 teams.

Olympique Lyon are second in the Ligue 1 with 55 points from 33 matches, though PSG have won the league again.
