Even with the recent slump of negative results, Messi will not quit Argentina

Argentina experienced a surprising defeat in the finals of the 2015 Copa America after losing against Chile in a penalty session which took place on July 4 at the Nacional Julio Martinez Pradanos Stadium in Chile.

Even with all of the superstars that the Argentine national side has, it still wasn’t enough for them to win the tournament and this is something that they have recently been unable to do for the past few years.

In the 2014 World Cup, Argentina also made it to the finals but lost against Germany. Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano, Angel Di Maria, Javier Pastore and Gonzalo Higuain are all of the high profile players in the Argentine and are considered to be some of the best players in the world but they struggle to clutch it out and win a big tournament.

Gerardo Martino is the coach of the national football team and he has received criticism for not being able to pull off a win with his national side despite having a number of talented players but Lionel Messi is the one who has received the most criticism.

Lionel Messi has won just about every single major trophy there is to win at a club level with Barcelona; he makes sublime performances each season but when it comes to performing with his national side, he tends to disappear.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi stated that despite all of the criticism that he has gotten from the media, he will continue performing for Argentina as Messi said: “The media can’t kill me any more than they already have. I am used to them saying these types of things. Now we have friendlies and as long as the coach calls me up I am going to continue to be present.”
