Mauricio Pochettino Disappointed with Late Goal from Burnley

Mauricio Pochettino says that he is deeply disappointed with his players at not being able to seal the game against Burnley.

Spurs conceded a late equaliser to end up drawing the game 1-1. It came as a result of Tottenham players pushing forward to attack rather than protect the lead in the closing stages of the game. It looked like Tottenham would be on course to end the disappointing run of form when it comes to games at the Wembley stadium. Dele Alli had provided the home team with the lead, but Chris wood came up with an equaliser in stoppage time.

The record at Wembley continues to remain poor for Tottenham, who have been able to win just one out of the last 11 games at this ground. After the game, manager Mauricio Pochettino defended the club’s record when it comes to games at the Wembley. He says that the location of the match is not the issue and it was the lack of concentration from the players in order to concede a late equaliser. Burnley had not threatened for much of the game and were able to score this late goal to secure four points from the two matches against London clubs this season.

Manager Pochettino has seen his team go winless in the last two league matches. “Wembley wasn’t the problem. We played well. But still the team is showing a lack of concentration in different situations. I’m disappointed how we conceded the goal, disappointed because we showed a lack of concentration at the end.It was a difficult game, but in the end we knew we were capable of scoring, but you cannot show that lack of concentration at the end. That was our mistake. We need to take responsibility, it was our fault,” said the Spurs manager.
