Manchester United and Tottenham after Portuguese ace

Manchester United and Tottenham are battling for the transfer of  Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes.

The news which was first reported by Gazzettadello Sport and corroborated by Sky Sports reveals that both clubs have made offers for the player.

Fernandes transfer has been one of the long-running transfer sagas due to different conflicting reports. There have been several claims by different news outlets regarding the destination of the talented midfielder.

Manchester United appear to be the frontrunner for the player as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have requested for his transfer.

The Norwegian wants a quality midfielder to support his existing options of Paul Pogba and NemanjaMatic. Brazillian midfielder Fred failed to impress last season after his big money move and the departure of Ander Herrera this summer leaves the club short in midfield.

Fernandes is valued at £70 million by Sporting and there have been reports that that United are unwilling to pay such huge fee for the player.

Tottenham wants the midfielder as a replacement for Christian Eriksen. Eriksen is expected to leave White Hart Lane this  season after refusing to sign a new contract.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has been given huge funds to spend after two seasons without any major signings.

Totteham have already signed Olympique Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele for a club record fee and wants to add another midfielder to the midfield. It is understood that the club have met with Fernandes’s agent over a potential transfer.

Liverpool had been linked with the player but it appears that both clubs have balked out of a move due to the high transfer fee involved.

Fernandes is a quality player and would be a good signing for the either side. The 24 year old scored 32 goals in all competitions last season.S
