Trippier would be hoping to continue his recovery from injury when Atletico Madrid take on hosts Granada in another La Liga outing billed for Wednesday night. The start given Kieran Trippier by manager Diego Simeone suggests that the Atletico Madrid boss still hold the fullback in high regards amidst the transfer rumours linking him with a return to the Premier League. He has been seriously linked with Newcastle United.

Kieran Trippier has six months left on his present deal at Atletico Madrid though the club has the option to extend it by one more year if he makes at least 20 starts this season. The Sevilla game was his 13th start meaning that he has seven starts to go to reach the 20 starts needed for an extra one year. Atletico Madrid have seven games to fulfil in all competitions between now and the winter break at the end of next month. To this effect, Kieran Trippier can achieve the 20 starts before the winter break.
